Yes Plant based is the key!! Not necessarily easy for me bc I like meat & carbs & sweets, but no more for me! I am scheduled for a 3 month check up in January and then I guess we will see. They’ll probably want to do cancer markers every 6 months and scans annually I would think. I don’t know for sure. I am just thrilled to get the surgery behind me! How long have you been on the Plant based diet? It’s fairly new to me so I am learning and striving very hard to stick with it diligently. God is good ALL the time!

@kkathysan I've been following this plant-based diet for about 5 years now. I must admit I do vary from it at times particularly when I'm away from home. I do eat meat which mostly consists of roasted chicken and I eat fish. Salmon has always been my favorite fish and so it is easy for me to get salmon into my diet at least twice a week. Tonight I roasted a chicken with root vegetables and we have lots of left overs. I like carbs and sweets too so it's a challenge for me to stay away from those. The nutritionist told me that it's unrealistic to expect to be 100% compliant with this diet. If I do 80% compliant with the other 20% not-so compliant such as an occasional piece of cake I can make sure I eat a small handful of nuts with the cake and then I'm doing good.

I decided to keep track of my nutrients with My Fitness Pal. I use the paid version and once I figured it out it's easy to use. Then I can keep better track of my nutrients every day. Since I link My Fitness Pal with my Apple Watch I can also track my exercise. I find all this digital stuff very motivating.

By the way I love broccoli. When I started doing the plant based diet I began to have diarrhea and I was worried that I had a new primary cancer or a recurrence. Nope. Too much broccoli means too much of that fiber for me! I still eat broccoli but not as often.

What have you found you like in your new diet that keeps you motivated?
