I have gone off Aventyl . It did not help the numbness. It’s worse now
I have severe numbness and pins and needles. I was on Aventyl ie Nortriptyline for four years, I weaned myself off of it because it did nothing to help me with this and the side effects of this drug is terrible. It causes severe constipation, voice hoarseness and tooth decay. However, now my numbness is much worse. I feel like I’m between a rock and a hard place here with no good options available to me. If anyone is out there and experiencing this same problem I’d love to hear from you. #desperate.

Dear @tessie63
For me, I had a nerve on my back then sat your meds. That was NO brain but my pain. 12 years ago, I became a brain-injury from an accident. A few years ago, I feel down in my rear-ends to the bottom of my feet. Still, I get meds in my TBI & no pain until falling down in my rear-ends.
Thankfully, on of my doctors, showed me there was a big nerve close to my back. That was the same problem 20 years ago from running outside 1 mi to exercise. That my doctor fixed that nerve last year. The pain was done from a big nerve.
Now, your pain & med hurts from inside your body - going to a bathroom & your voice sound & teeth decay & pain… that added worse problems. I also asked for “friends” & members here, your you…
Thx,
Greg D. @greg56xx
People, please do not take drugs for years that are not helping you! Especially ones with horrible side effects.
This can only ruin your health more! Anything I take I give it 3 months max. If not working I stop.
Tessie63: Always read up on any drug prescribed to you. In this case I quickly found out that Neuropathy is not even listed as a possible use for it. The drug is for anti-depression!
Read all about any drug on Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nortriptyline
Just so you know, this is the only drug that took the horrible pain away for me when it first happened. I was aware that it was an antidepressant and I was also aware of the side effects. I always google any drug I use. It was my only alternative at the time and it gave me relief from the pain. A lot of the drugs that are used for neuropathy fall under an antidepressant useage. . Now I have weaned myself off of it and the numbing and pins and needles are worse. Apparently there is nothing one can do about this now but lecturing me on learning more about what I’m using does not go over well with me.
