I have adult onset asthma and have been hospitalized 3 times with pneumonia. I take Allegra daily and albuterol occasionally. With each hospitalization, mucinex was prescribed and extended after hospital release. Now, when I get a cold, I take mucinex daily for two weeks. I truly believe the mucinex is what has kept me out of the hospital with serious colds while I continue to take Allegra daily. My allergist approves of my plans, but of course you should check with your doctor about taking mucinex and Allegra.
