Disability and Medicare: Has anyone qualified for Medicare under 65?

Posted by vickihorseman @vickihorseman, Nov 18, 2024

I’m hoping there is someone out there that knows this. I qualified for disability which starts in January. I understand that there is a 2 year waiting period if you are not 65 with the exception of renal failure, als, and certain cancers.
Has anyone qualified for Medicare under 65?
I’ve been paying for cobra but can’t keep it up.
Thanks y’all

Just my experience: Consider Original Medicare + sr suppliment health insurance that offers Medicare A&B plus drug coverage. Those of us with NETS unfortunately need costly treatments and drugs. If you compare Original Medicare’s never questioned referrals and the 0 cost expensive treatments that the above insurance choice delivers it will give you peace of mind. I just had 4th PRRT treatment and I would have never been able to pay for it without my Original Medicare! NETS tends to surprise us with tumor progression too often and you don’t want to be denied coverage that offers you more TIME and quality of life. Don’t let the premium cost scare you from comparing coverage of Medicare Advantage vs. Original Medicare with supplement insurance/drug coverage. You are worth it! Best health to you. Bette
