Has anyone had to discontinue Zytiga due to side effects?

I’m 7 months into an 18 month treatment with ORGOVYX and Zytiga. Everything has been manageable until the last few weeks when I started to experience significant dizziness and nausea. It became so bad this week that my MO is having be take a one week break and I still feel quite ill.

I had to discontinue Zytiga after 2.5 years Because it was causing me to have Afib events. The last event 7/23 Put me in the hospital for four days because they couldn’t reverse it. That was due to an antibiotic I took that caused electrical system problems with the heart so that shocking the heart back into rhythm didn’t work until the antibiotics half-life was over (4 days). That was the third time I had an afib event While on Zytiga. My oncologist said, You’re not taking that anymore.

At first, she put me on a parp inhibitor But after four days of nightmares, I asked her to switch me over to Darolutamide, And she agreed. That has left me undetectable for the last year. I can take the parp Inhibitor when Darolutamide Fails.

The thing is, If you stop zytiga because it fails (Your PSA rises), you have a smaller chance of having a lutamide Work. Because I switched before Zytiga failed I got really good results.

I've been on Zytiga for the last 11 months. I sometimes feel unsteady on my feet, end up walking with my hands out to the side, not really happy about that but so be it. No nausea at all. Sometimes, maybe a few hours after taking the meds, it beats me up some. funny feeling inside and completely drains me. I also get Firmagon shot each month so I'm never sure what med is giving me what side effect. Best to all.

Steve, thank you for your helpful comment. I’ve never had to hang onto stuff until the last few days when the dizziness started.

Is your PSA still undetectable?

last psa test was at .06. that is low but back in June was < .02. I asked doc, he said we are keeping an eye on it. I get tested monthly. Being dizzy is a little scary, sure don't want to fall. Noticed the other day was using 4 foot step ladder and I teetered a little bit, got my attention. I hope they can figure out the dizziness for you.
