Hi researchmaven,
Hope you're doing well. My wife hadn't been feeling well lately, so we've delayed starting her on Altevia. I think Sunday Sept. 1st she'll be taking her first tablet. I know everybody's different but, in your case, what kinds and locations of pain did you experience and what did you take to relieve the pain? And was it effective?
As I have a very sensitive gut, I didn't take any OTC products (and still do not). I just ate bland food afterwards.
If your wife drinks one and one-half to two glasses of water with the pill, she should avoid gut pain.
Note: My specialist never said that I needed a giant breakfast (I came up with that myself), and just recently told me to take the Atelvia with lots of water.

The generic Risendronate has the same active ingredient as the brand Atelvia.
I tried the generic version that was available way back when, and it felt like it put a hole in my stomach after just one dose.
So I now pay a lot more for the brand name.
However, since I started Atelvia, my stomach has gotten even more sensitive; I told my specialist that I couldn't tolerate the Atelvia now too.
She told me to drink two full glasses of water with the Atelvia, and presto, it worked fine.
I haven't tried the generic on two glasses of water (I often do three), but I would like to. I would save a lot of money if I could take the generic. The brand name and the generic use different adjuvants - that is likely the problem for me.
Hi
I am currently on a drug holiday, I was on fosamax, until my tooth broke in half from an inside crack. My doctor is talking about 2.5 months, I was on fosamax for 13 weeks, now I am going to a peridontist, but I am going to hold off on dental surgery for as long as I can, hopefully 6 months!! I am looking into tylmos drug for bone building, I don't like any of this, but one day at a time. I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.
Sincerely
Jamie
Hi jojo4cm,
I only had gut pain. Nothing else.

Experiment. I did and found what worked for me.
Researchmaven: Thanks once again for being SO helpful!!
Is Altevia the same as Risedronate?
mmwagner46,
I take one of the brand name versions, Atelvia.
