There are heating pads that are called "moist" heating pads and they work the best. Moist heat penetrates better than dry heat.

Remember when chiropractors used Hydroculator heat? They had very hot water in these units and would put packs in them and then wrap the hot pack from them in a towel and apply them to you. Not many places have these anymore to be honest. They still had them when I worked in the health center years ago.

If you can find a moist heating pad online, I think that would be great. I personally like the Bedbuddy heat packs that you put in the microwave. I buy these from Amazon for about $11. It provides moist heat, BUT, they only stay warm for about 20 minutes. You can wrap these pretty much around any part of your body that is hurting. You have to be really careful with these as you could burn yourself they get so hot.
