I've had a poplar opposite experience with my TKR at Mayo. I spent one night in the hospital where they monitored my pain level constantly. Since my release, I've noticed less pain than I'd had prior to surgery.

I did have a massive amount of swelling and bruising. The bruises were throughout my leg but most was in my calf and back of my thigh. I'm on a blood thinner and wear a thigh-high compression stocking.

Ice and elevation along with the appropiate pain meds are important. I'd reach out to my care team and express how much pain you're having.
