Does cannabis help anyone experiencing pain from radiation?

Posted by sansman @sansman, 3 days ago

I have been on this site for quite some time and very thankful for all the information that is available here.
Brief background, diagnosis in 2016 at the age of 57, RPC in late 2017, radiation in 2018, orchiectomy in 2021.
My problems seem to all stems from the radiation, it got ahold of my bladder.
I’ve been in some level of pain ever since, the doctors are no help, I can’t make them understand the amount of discomfort and pain this is putting me through.
So here’s the question, does cannabis help anyone?
The CBD in Tn. doesn’t relieve anything.

@sansman

I live in Tennessee, the CBD I’ve found here just doesn’t do it. I guess I’m looking for something with a higher THC level or a higher ratio than what is offered in this state
Thanks for the input, searching for a “budtender” out of state that can trusted. Open to suggestions.
Thanks again

Are you near to a cannabis state? I don't know of an online store that would ship to a non-legal state. Do you have any relatives in a cannabis state that would get them for you?

That’s what I kind of figured, I do have people in Ky and In, I guess that’s the route I’ll take.
Thanks again

My cancer journey went down the non-nerve sparing surgery route with the accompanying permanent impotence, improved, but still impactful incontinence, and now moving to the issues related to salvage radiation, ADT, and who knows what else. Additionally, I have a failing ankle replacement and significant whole body arthritis so I am constantly in some level of pain, often quite significant. Even at a center of excellence, like Mayo in Phoenix where I had my surgery, while I had excellent surgical care, there was no significant discussion or counseling on the life changing physical and emotional consequences of treatment or any comphrensive and/or integrated support or followup; After surgery, I had one 10 minute post-op with my urologist and was told to keep getting PSA monitored which immediately showed reoccurance. There are just too many people being treated by to few providers, so we are all really just in a protocol driven mill. Not to be morbid, but I honestly find myself thinking pancreatic cancer would have been a better diagnosis as it would all be over quickly. To answer your question, since doctors are very reluctant to provide adequate pain medication and good sleep is so illusive, I find smoking marijuana does numb you enough to help you to not focus on your situatiin or pain, and the best part is at least it helps you get some sleep.

Steve I do appreciate you telling me about your journey. This is one time I can say “I feel your pain”
After 6 years+ I am still fighting incontinence, still using 5 or 6 Depends daily, have been impotent some day 1. The Orchiectomy killed my sex drive, and the desire for it.
Hang tough brother.
