Reclast prep - water, electrolytes, Tylenol ...?
Hello everyone! I am scheduled for Reclast Nov 20. Scared to death! I've been reading and reading ... Water? Just how much? Double, triple what I usually drink - which isn't a lot but I do try. Electrolytes? My Dr casually mentioned Gatorade. My thoughts are that there might be better options that that. I do have electrolyte supplements I can add to water. But I've read to very careful with those. Also Tylenol, starting when? Claritin? I'd love to read your experiences and what worked for you.

I will be taking reclast in April. I am so glad you posted your experience. While I understand more people will post side effects then not i have not been sleeping well and worry all the time. I don’t feel as bad now . Thank you
Update - The infusion center would not administer the Reclast this morning because I am having some pretty bad hip and glute area pain. That pain just popped up a few days ago and has been getting worse. They want me to get an X-Ray to rule out any fractures. I understand their concerns. I will be getting an X-Ray today I hope. The nurse at the infusion center reached out to my Dr's office but could not get thru to a nurse, admin staff or anyone. She had to leave a message. Apparently there is a procedure the infusion center follows and they wanted to Dr to send the order for the X-Ray. Since it's so hard to reach this Dr, the center wrote a note describing what they need for clearance. I'll get that signed when I get the X-Ray. Hopefully I have nothing serious but dang if my whole left side isn't throbbing! It's always something.
Well how did it go? I had my Reclast infusion in Aug with few side effects. Mostly Tired and that lasted from August thru October. Keep drinking water (8 oz and hour) and taking Tylenol it will help. Hope you’re doing well. I was scared to get Reclast but it was to the point I had to do something. I’m glad I did.
Thank you for asking :-). I could not get the infusion due to some pretty bad back and glute pain. The infusion center wanted a clearance letter from my Dr that I was clear of a fracture. After spending several hours at the walk-in ER, I'm clear. No fractures but a few other concerning issues were noted on a CT Scan. Scattered ground glass opacities were noted in my right lung. This is very concerning to me and I have contacted my Internist for further investigation. I have never smoked and in fairly good health. Soooo, I now have to reschedule the Reclast. I'm so ready to have that behind me! And my Osteo Dr has not responded to the infusion center's notice of this clearance letter being needed. I had the ER Dr write the note, haha!
@255anny I believe ground glass opacities can come from COVID. My mother had them. Have you had COVID?
The more tests that are done the more is found. We are on a slippery slope. It’s been hard this year because I have had to admit I am mortal. And doctors are so busy they just look at you like “your old, what do you expect”?
Wishing you the best. Take care
Hi - no I have never had Covid! Thankfully. And you are correct, they are often found after Covid. I have a slight cough but it is not deep and not constant. I just contributed it to allergies.
This says sometimes the opacities can be benign or short term. Hope that is the case for you.

Spoke with my primary Dr this morning. He is as baffled as I am with the findings on the CT Scan. But he ordered a full chest/lung scan. As soon as that request is processed, I will go and get the scan. Gosh, it takes forever to get medical orders thru. I'm really concerned about getting my Reclast. The next available appt is Dec 3. I'm worried about losing what small gains I had from Evenity. My last Evenity injection was Sept 30. I will call and see if they have any cancellations. But I really want to go in well hydrated so I'd like 2 days to prep. Tired of jumping thru all these medical hoops. And on another subject, I've heard nothing from my Endo/Osteoporosis Dr.
