That's such a good question. I had rather large weight change over the past 2 years. A total of 45 lbs. The first 20 came after suffering from a bowel obstruction for 6 weeks. Yes I said six week I went to the hospital 2 and was admitted for 5 days each and both times discharged without resolution of my obstruction.

Once that was dealt with I decided to maintain my new weight and I also decided to change what I ate and adopted a whole food plant based diet. I loss another 10 lbs. When I was diagnosed with cancer I changed my diet again to a metabolic syndrome diet and I lost 15 lbs

What I noticed was lack of definition in my leg and my butt was flat. I just didn't like what I saw.

I'm working out. I decided to work with a trainer. We are working on strength and at my request we do additional work with my lower body. I also eating well making sure I have enough health fats and protein so my body has what it needs to grow muscle.

I no longer look skinny and have better balance and I'm stronger. I have been working on this for 2 years and I never stopped when I was diagnosed with cancer. I'm a huge proponent of strength training.

That’s amazing! I’ve been working out over the last year, but not with a trainer. I wish I had one.

I did meet with a new nutritionist since the post above and she suggested still more protein? So, I’m adding that.

@denisestlouie, what do you eat for protein on a plant based diet? I rely on eggs, diary and poultry, with some beans.
