Oh my gosh Michelle….you have, and continue, to go through so much.. it makes me swollowing and metal taste so insignificant. I thank you for sharing all of that. My first thought is that I can pray for you… I truly hope that you have such good doctors that can put all this together for you and find a solution where you won’t be in pain, or have all these symptoms. So awful to be so young and go through so much.
Wow, you have a lot going on.
I’ve been having very unpleasant burning and metallic taste in my mouth. I am worried about the possible connection to neurological issues — I had a nasty bout with trigeminal neuralgia months ago (though I thought the occipital nerve was misfiring worse) and it was brutal for a few days. What interested me about your post, and prompted me to create an account here so I could reply to you, was your reported palate/dental pain. As my nerve pain began to change and improve, I noticed my upper molars on the affected side were feeling very tight and sore. This worsened until it felt like they were being twisted by a vise. Not long after it subsided I felt first one filling then another fall out of my first molar for no apparent reason. So, knowing that teeth do have some movement, I asked my dentist if some nerve had acted on my palate to put such pressure on my tooth that it broke. Yes, he thought I was nuts, the supercilious aerosol.
I know I am relieved to know someone else has experienced something like this, but I am sorry at the same time. Maybe my piece of supporting anecdotal evidence will give you a small measure of relief.
I’m waiting passively for the next episode of that nerve pain, which is spectacularly horrific, I tell you. Meds produced a bad reaction, so all I’ve got to battle it when it comes next is a honkin’ big ice pack, lol.
My goodness you have really had a rough road. I am interested in your information. I have also read about BMS, because it has a lot in common with the metallic/bitter taste. And, yes….it could be described as salty. Also, A few times I’ve had burning in the back of my throat. Wondered if reflux, but don’t think so. Another reason I read of BMS is that:
It’s similar to burning skin syndrome. I’ve been curious about it too, as I used to have intermittent burning skin. I thought it was my vitamin B12 deficiency….so, idk. The burning skin syndrome seems to be associated with anxiety, based on my reading.
My bad taste definitely happened at the time of severe stress, pain and anxiety in my life. I wish I could find a psychological causation. Maybe then I could address it directly. I’ve talked about it in therapy for over a year. Perhaps, I should revisit my hypnosis idea.
How long did your break from the mouth condition lasts the first time?
