Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm 5.1cm- worried

@larak

I did get that ANA test. I ordered it myself through WalkInLabs.com. $48 for Quest lab with detailed pattern analysis. Holy poop...

I knew this might also be a factor, but really didn't want it to be: systemic sclerosis.

I've got like five nucleolar speckled patterns going on, and they all point to this. Rats.

It would be very nice to get a doctor in charge of all this. I am tired of being my own doctor.

It does seem like you need a qualified cardiologist, one that understands and specializes in aneurysms and possible genetic markers. I was lucky enough to find one through my thoracic surgeon, he has been my cardiologist now since I had my aneurysm repair surgery in 2020, My genetic test did not show any of the known markers and he enrolled my family in a study as he believes we may have an unknown marker (I also had a brain aneurysm and my brother has two, we also had some confirmed deaths in my family from aneurysms). He checks me every year as I also have a BAV (which contributed to the aneurysm) and every 4 does a complete body MRI (or MRAs) to make sure I don't have new ones, he also had my kids checked. If I have any concerns, he answers all my questions.

When and if you need the surgery, it is tough but bearable, just keep yourself in the best physical shape possible, and watch your BP. I was out of the hospital in 5 days and almost 5 years after I am at full activity. (started excercising about 4 months after surgery).

All the best to you!!!!
