I use mucinex once daily as a part of airway clearance. After a lot of experimentation I found what works best for me is name brand Mucinex 1200 mg extended release bi-layer tablets. I tried to save money with generics but they did not work as well as the brand. If I took an evening dose my chest was very rattly at night so I stopped and take one dose in a.m. only. As an added benefit, mucinex seems to help my sinuses as well.

When taking it in the morning does it make you tired and does the Mucinex actually help get more sputum up during ACT's? I just wasn't sure if it completely dried you up.

Could you share the brand name, if you don’t mind? I was taking it once a day, in the morning as well, but I’m pretty sure I was buying the 600 mg extended release bi-layer tablets.

The 1200 mg in the morning would seem to work better to clear lungs and sinuses during the day and make sleep easier?
