My Gleason score is4+4 (8). Localized in the prostate only. Waiting for surgery date. How soon after surgery could I play 18 holes of golf ?

Surgery age 72 ; played 18 holes (riding cart) 6 1/2 weeks later.
My recovery went very well and I had walked almost every day postop beginning with 20 mins, in 5 min intervals, in the house to 40 mins outside.
Best wishes.

All great comments and suggestions here but I wouldn’t go by anyone else’s experience. You are going to be pretty surprised at how you feel after your procedure - just because a robot is used don’t think that this is not major surgery. It is a big deal.
As others have mentioned, your core is gonna be invaded bigtime so go slowly in your recovery. Walk mostly but don’t lift any weights at all. Any strain or pull could definitely set you back.
I strained on the toilet and wound up needing a procedure to pee again less than 3 months after surgery. It’s that fragile for the first few months.
So short putts and chips would be a good way to begin but don’t even attempt a long drive until your abdominal area is fully healed and pain free. How long that is will be up to YOUR body and yours alone. Best of luck.

I’d guess you should wait about four weeks. While I didn’t golf afterwards, I walked, jogged, and ran a lot. , I rode my bicycle after four months. However, I had to stop as it was painful.
Enjoy your golfing!

Ask your surgeon post-op. Only they know what was done during surgery and how that might impact any physical activity you might do. And don't second guess their advice.

I started practicing (putting and chipping) after 3 weeks and playing after 6 weeks. Most of the wait was to ensure that I felt comfortable with core muscles. By that time, I had been walking / jogging most days and doing upper body strength exercises. No problem, other than normal “rust.” I was 65 at the time.
