Evenity Can I get more side effects as I continue my treatment?
I just had my first two shots of Evenity last month (one in each arm) it went well no pain whatsoever. My question is, as I continue treatment, could I experience more side effects? Is it a cumulative effect? As I continue treatment would side effects happen as I get more shots and Evenity builds up in my body? Or, am I going to be okay and since I did well with my two shots? Just wanting feedback that everything should be A Okay? I am on this for one full year and want to stay as positive as possible. Thank you. Any comments or feedback would be great to hear.

Thank you so much! I will keep everyone posted. Shot Two is coming up soon.
Gives started with tingling hands and went up the arms to my elbows. Same pattern every time. I have learned to control it with regular daily doses of 60 mgs of Allegra three times a day. If they start, then 10 mgs of dissolvable Zyrtec stops it. The last 6 weeks since I started routinely taking the Allegra have been almost without incident. I think I will make it through the 12 months. Thanks!
Thanks. What were the adverse reactions?
Thanks! I was wondering what the side effects were ?
I am sorry but I do not recall what the specific reasons for quitting were,
@jjpoodlespress Hey, I got 30% in LS and less than 3% in TH and FN. I'm about to start risedronate monthly pills which I hope to do for a year and then take Evenity again though maybe for a shorter time? The idea of using risedronate is to use the weakest and least long lasting of the bisphosphonates as an interim "lock in" drug, so that a second round of Evenity will be able to do more bone building. More bone building because the risedronate would have less bone suppressive effect after stopping it than alendronate or Reclast.
Now if all that will only go according to plan!
Note: risedronate would not be my drug of choice if I was wanting to use it as a long term antiresorptive.
I have been on Evenity for 9 months. I started getting an injection site reaction in my arms about my 4th month. It was an itching, hot rash. I took Benadryl which helped. It was completely gone in 24 hours. I called the infusion center and they told me to take a Claritin an hour before I come in for my shots. Since I have done that, I have not had a problem except with the usual sore arm for 24 hours.
Does your insurance pay for a 2nd round of Evenity?
@pami I don't know if that's will happen. First time around it didn't seem like a guy could get traditional Medicare to cover it. They wouldn't say for sure if they would but when the doctor did the billing they paid. I don't think you can know with Medicare ahead of time on Osteoporosis, at least not if you are a male. I intend to do Evenity again whether I can get it covered or not. Maybe for a shorter time if I have to pay and the research seems to show that a shorter course of it is almost as good as the 12 months.
Happy to say I completed 12 months of Evenity with no (known) issues and huge improvements in my spine.
I learned that who gives the shot makes a difference. One woman did it so I barely felt it go in and never needed a band aid after and had the mildest of discomfort if at all (way less than a flu or covid shot). The other person was very nice and meant well but it bled a little after (arm or belly) and a few times left a mark for a couple days! In either case not a problem really.
Now waiting until next week for a Reclast infusion... alas 2 months 3 weeks after the last of my Evenity shots and I fear losing even a little of my gains so be sure they plan the timing better if you have, like me, a very booked infusion location and hard to see doctor. Mine was planned a year in advance but then the appointments for Evenity were such that I finished with 6 weeks before my doctor's appointment.
