MBC and first brain mets: Lines of treatment

Posted by eku @eku, Nov 16 6:45am

Hello,
I am diagnosed with MBC in January 2022. Er/PR+, HER2 low, lobular, mets to bones. I was on Verzenio + Anastrozole and had progression on my bones. Moved to Kisqali + Faslodex.
My brain MRI showed 2 spots and I'm scheduled to see a radiologist and then gamma knife radiation. I have CT and bone scans coming up in 2 weeks and then my oncologist will tell me next line of meds, possibly Xeloda.

I was wondering if there are people here who made a leap from being bone mets only to brain mets. How is it handled by your team? Anyone who developed brain mets during their treatment, how did your treatment change? Also, any tips on how to handle Xeloda will be appreciated.

Thanks.

@eku do you post on breastcancer.org? There are threads dedicated to people who have MBC. Very helpful folks over there.

I am 10 years out from a grade 3 mixed ductal and lobular with lymphovascular invasion and what would now be called low HER2. I have no idea how mets will ever be discovered!

I hope someone answers here and, again, breastcancer.org is a great resource.

Some of the MBC threads are ONLY for others with MBC, which I think is great.
