Does anyone take Alpha Lipoic Acid who also has to take blood thinners
I would like to take R- ALA but according to the leaflet it can react with my blood thinning medication. Has anyone else had this problem

I am on Eliquis and take 600 mng of LPA and have for years. It helps.
I'm on 2.5mg Eliquis twice daily and also take 1200mg R-ALA daily but I was on it prior to having a blood clot and my doctor and cardiologist didn't say anything when they reviewed my supplements and other medications. I would discuss it with my cardiologist or doctor to get a definitive answer.
I'm on 5mg Eliquis twice a day and take 600mg of R-ALA twice a day, as well, with no problem. When I googled I saw on Drugs.com that "there appears to be no interaction between Eliquis and Alpha Lipoic Acid." But perhaps call your doctor's office to ask if it will relieve your concerns? Best wishes! Mike
I take 3600mg of Gabapentin and started taking 2400mg of Alpha Lipoic Acid about a month ago. I have been on Gabapentin since 1996 and it was no longer deadening the pain as it used to hence the addition of ALA. So far, I can't say I have noticed and changed with the ALA. More time will tell. Also, I take ALA with blood thinners and have no problem doing so. Remember, those leaflets are designed to protect the drug companies and don't necessarily apply to every product user. Try it and see, you can always stop, should you experience any unwanted changes.
What is LPA?
Sorry meant ALA
OK. Thanks.
My neurologist advised I could take ALA and I take an aspirin and krill oil. Ala gives me terrible heartbeat if I take more than one and it has not made any impact on my neuropathy
