I'm a six-year military vet (USN). The fraction that serve our nation in this fashion is quite small: < 0.5% of the total population per Council on Foreign Relations data (2013).
I think all of them were at the Red Robin where I got a free burger on Monday. The place was packed!
Thanks to everyone who has served our country. I am an USN Veteran. I served in Vietnam and like many others was exposed to Agent Orange. I’m grateful to the Phoenix Mayo Clinic for helping me with my prostate cancer issue and for this communication blog
I thank Zizzi’s Coffee too for my free coffee. 😋
I served aboard USS Nimitz for a little over four years (Feb., '78 - Apr., '82) as an Electrician's Mate. Did 3 Med cruises, a North Sea cruise and sat off the coast of Iran for well over 100 days during the '79-'81 Iranian Hostage Crisis.
We had destroyers, destroyer escorts and guided middle cruisers in our battlegroups on all of my sea excursions, but I never did set foot on any if them.

I got my veteran free burger meal from our local restaurant at the Hidden Pines Restaurant. Fortunate to have such a great local place to eat.
@itchyd and @johnbishop
👍 Thank you for your service.
I'm so happy that more and more institutions and companies are honoring our vets. Kudos to them. We need recognition from even more.
I know you guys enjoyed those burgers! 😋
@itchyd you always make me laugh. Hope it didn't take too long for you to get seated Monday. 😊
YUM!!
Wings, too !
Were you Air Force?
Shoulda looked at your hat.
Another old salt, just like me!
Semper Fortis, shipmate!
Thanks, my44!
Took a while, but well worth the wait.
I bided time talking with an Army vet who trained service dogs in Nam and Korea. He had some very interesting stories.
The dogs were heroes, too, although I didn't see any canine vets at the Red Robin!
Served on two different tin cans 62 to 66. Maybe we should start a sea stories discussion 😁

I'd like that!

I graduated from high school about a year after the Vietnam era ended, so I lucked out and didn't have to go through the horrors of that war.
You have my profound respect for enduring that nightmare!
Hi, @itchyd
Hadn't given any thought to military service dogs. I think they deserve burgers, too! LOL
Thank you, Military Pooches, for your service, too! 🐕
