@vjo16, I am 72 and my cardiologist put me on bioidentical hormones a few months back, mainly because I was terribly lacking, and I have osteoporosis. He felt strongly that I could benefit from the hormones (estradiol, testosterone and progesterone) for my overall health and hopefully sustain my bones. I was on an osteoporosis medication for 2 years (an injection) and my bone loss improved, but now my rheumatologist wants me on another medication and I'm hesitating a bit, which is probably not good. My cardiologist passed away unexpectedly a couple months back and I was fearful that another doctor would not refill my hormone therapy, but I was referred to a gynecologist/integrative specialist and she was happy to refill my prescriptions and educate me on the benefits. There are doctors out there that have educated themselves to the flawed research about hormones that was done in the early 2000's and now know that we need hormones to sustain healthy/happy bodies. She also prescribed a vaginal suppository that will help with my dryness/burning/pain. I hope you will find a physician, preferably an integrative specialist that has knowledge of the benefits of hormone therapy for us older gals. Rose
It was so refreshing to hear that you are getting souch physician support for hormone replacement.!!!
