Ivermectin and cancer: Is it being used on cancer patients?

Posted by kayhaun @kayhaun, Nov 10 9:21am

My daughter at age 62 has pancreatic cancer and has been getting chemo for about a year now. The cancer now seems to have stopped responding and the doctors are out of options. She has sent to some other state for the ivermectin which anecdotally kills cancer cells. Does anyone have any knowledge about this medicine being used on cancer patients? Thank you very much.

@kayhaun, it is wise to ask questions about the possibility of new treatments being studied. Where there is promise, there may also be hype.

Researchers are studying ivermectin to see if it may be used as an anti-cancer drug and early studies show promise. Please note that this research is in the early stages (mice studies) and has not yet been tested in human trials. Ivermectin is not a proven standard treatment for pancreatic cancer.

Ivermectin combined with other chemotherapy drugs or targeted drugs is being studied in early clinical trials and shows promise in patients for whom conventional chemotherapy has not worked in some cancer types. It may be effective against drug-resistant cancer cells.

Important
It is NOT safe to take ivermectin used in veterinary medicine. Please talk to your doctor before taking any over-the-counter medications or supplements that claim to fight or cure cancer.

Is your daughter working with her oncologist to pursue clinical trials?

Thanks for responding. She is visiting MD Anderson this week, hoping for a trial that might fit her situation. Her oncologist here was not able to offer her any. Yes, the ivermectin route is a will o the wisp and she will be getting it from an out of state clinic for a goodly cost. We won’t use a vet! 😆

Unfortunately many in the medical oncology community fail to appreciate that many cancer patients do not have years or $ to wait for their trials. I wish they would just let us try.

Ivermectin is available only with your doctor's prescription. It should not be used without the guidance of a physician.

@sm22, please discuss the use of ivermectin with your oncologist. It is not yet standard of care for treating cancer.

I fully understand that doctors are unwilling to prescribe medications that have not been thoroughly researched. Their licenses are at stake. However for those who see death as imminent, precautions seem frivolous. Not uncommon. Try Dr Kathleen Ruddy on the internet but not unless you are out of options.

I am not out of options, and I am familiar with Dr Ruddy. I would rather try something like Ivermectin instead of chemo and/or drugs that will permanently damage my organs. Thank you.

Wow really helpful advice!

Where can you get ivermectin? Is it legal to buy? Are there reliable sources? Do I need to tell my doctor? I recently finished 6 months of chemo then 28 radiation treatments. No shrinkage.
