Yes, we all have these problems with our doctors. They aren't up to date and don't want to deal with it due to time constraints. It's just easier to say no. For older women, it needs to be individualized case by case. There are contraindications, but they are rare and often do not raise the level of concern even then. You have a better chance of getting what you want by seeing a gynecologist or a urologist. The latter seems strange but true. There are many current books on the subject. Some other information sources are YouTube, Spotify podcasts, amazon podcasts, Instagram, and Facebook groups.

wow, I read your comments and just read the article in the link you sent Contemporary View of Menopausal etc...REALLY insightful...an MD friend of mine started her own practice last year, specializing in hormone treatment, and menapause issues for women and she supports this view, that there is so much ignorance in current OBGYN providers, and the mentality/data against helping women with hormone replacement etc. is dated, old, irrelevant, wrong...so I am going to have to find another OBGYN to help me..maybe john hopkins in baltimore will be more educated..so thank you

kisu offers good advice. Educate yourself and keep searching for doctors who can think outside the box. My misery kept me searching for help. Over a few years I visited 4 gynocologist's before I found one with the right suggestion for me personally. I was told by a male gyno I looked fine. Next male gyno told me it was heat rash since my tests for yeast or bacteria were negative. I was told to wipe from front to back! Egad, we all learn that as children. I was told by his nurse to continue using prescribed topicals that burned horribly. After patch testing by an allergist I learned I was allergic to cortisone the gynocolgist prescribed and when I called and told his nurse it caused intense burning within 10 minutes, her response was "No one is allergic to cortisone, so I must keep using it to feel better". I sent the patch test results from the allergist to her and never heard back, went in search of another gynocologist and saw 2 female gyno's after that. The last one was my saviour.
