Rita,
There appears to be some misinformation in your post. I would caution folks reading it, especially the part re your thoughts on statins.
However, if you find a simple supplement had lowered your CAC numbers, please let us know - as this would be, at least from my reading, a first - and would upend the science.
Thanks for your input. I have been reading about vitamin D3 and K2 as my CAC score is in excess of 800, as well as an LP(a) reading of 93.. I just read an article by a physician relative to these two vitamins and she indicates that if you do not take them together the calcium will likely to be deposited in the arteries. I find your research and following your levels quite interesting and sure would like to know your results after your next tests. Good luck with that.
I eat 3 Brazil nuts a day. My cholesterol is great now. Was borderline high before
D-3does not raise cholesterol .
D3 does not raise your cholesterol. I've been taking it for over a year, and my cholesterol (total and LDL) fell 20 points with no changes to diet or exercise. My brother takes 5000 IU a day, and his cholesterol is fine.
I also took K2-MK4 during that time. The combination of the two is supposed to help prevent plaque buildup by directing more calcium to the bones. I have read stories of some people having trouble (irregular heartbeat) with the MK7 type, but nothing definitive. The main difference from my understanding is that MK7 has a longer half-life. My method is to take some MK4 in the morning, and some at night.
