I'm genuinely surprised that nobody else from the Asheville area has posted here. I'm in Asheville and still withput drinking water for a month. I got my electricity and internet etc back in week two. Week 3 for runnimg water to flush which felt amazing to not be carrying pool water from a friends pool to flush.
There is no potable water into most of our homes yet but with pain and other things going on, carrying cases of drinking water into my house (I am 70 and live alone) is overwhelming. Public showers for the disabled are finally available. And I am definitely a lucky one, trying to stay in gratitude and oddly feeling like I have no right to be overwhelmed when I still have a home and didn't lose a loved one. Its quite surreal around here. Tornadoes definitely hit too close for comfort, but I'm safe. Its a weird mixture of grief and gratitude here. Some lost 100% of everything. (Except family which can make even them try to just feel grateful.) Towns that no longer exist. Very surreal. My MD is just as likely to be behjnd me for a public showers. My PCPs office manager lost her home and all she owns. Another drs nurse broke her ankle falling while walking miles trying to get from her home to a street down mountain. So many stories, so much grief. So much just overwhelm. And so many people showing up for each other regardless of what politically separated them last month. Surreal and Amazing times for so many. B

So sorry of all the difficulties and challenges you have been through, and are still going through, because of Milton. What a devastating storm. It's sad to hear the stories you've shared of the plight of others, as well. My thoughts and prayers go out to everyone who has been negatively affected. Praying that you can get all of the help resources that you need in order to completely recover from the impact of the storm...and praying that you can get back to some sense of normalcy sooner rather than later. Be encouraged...we care about you and wish you all the best. ❤️

Glad things have improved. My friend’s sister lives in Asheville and I have seen pictures of her area. She rents the bottom half of a two story house and, like you, had no power or internet for a while. They did have water. She was able to drive out of her area just recently and is now waiting to see when she can return to work. Having her neighbors upstairs was a blessing and they cobbled meals together with whatever they had….so hard to throw out perishable food when you think of the prices today.
I’m sure anyone from the Asheville area who is on this forum was far too busy to post anything. Internet seemed to be the last thing that was restored for anyone.
We are currently watching a possible tropical storm brewing in the Gulf of Mexico. The waters are cooler and dry air is trying to shift down to us so it looks like just a rain event which a lot of people don’t need right now.
Watching the weather forecast each morning is the first thing I do every day ( after starting the coffee of course).
It’s been warm and sunny here…..
