What comes after Evenity?
I have been been on Fosamax for 6 years total starting in 2009 with various drug holidays during the years. I was on Raloxifene for 3 years. Started Evenity in June. What are people taking after the year of Evenity is up?

@broken13 it is now allowed to do Forteo for more than two years but for me, the similar drug Tymlos didn't really do much after 18 months. Some on here are saying that you can take a break or use another med and then go back to Forteo and it will be effective again.
Evenity works very differently: it inhibits sclerostin. It is pretty potent.
I have 7 spinal fractures. I am sorry to hear that you have me beat. I hope you can do Evenity!
broken13, the two year limit was removed in 2020.
@broken13 I found this information regarding the change to the 2 year limit for Forteo. It may be of interest to you, though it sounds like you have a plan with Evenity.

Yes it was removed. But when someone from the research team tells you clearly to look at other options, I think I will give Evenity a go. Forteo worked amazingly well for me, but was not without side effects. Evenity sounds like most folks did not have side effects with it, so fingers crossed : )
That is a good article, but it does qualify "extended use only to be used on identified patients at very high risk". I may have to go back to it if Evenity does not work for me.
This is very helpful. Forteo was approved by my insurance for second course, while Evenity is still awaiting approval by Parmacare. My new Endocrinolgist failed to send the Special authority in and now we have to wait all over again. I will see my GP today and tell him I'm tired of waiting and will just start the Forteo. I will also ask him about the Bone Marker test and wonder why neither Endocrinologist ordered that before. Again, thank you so much for sharing.
My endo doesn't do bone markers and he is chair at a top hospital. He says an entire conference could be held on this issue.
I just asked my doctor about this today. He said he will consult with Endocrinolgy , but it is not typically done in Canada and not found to be reliable?
McCormick says bone markers need to be done right and then they are accurate, so fasting for CTX and at the same time early in the morning. I have read that kidney function also affects it. My doc says they "Don't tell the whole story of what is going on in bones." I don't know what to think honestly!
I completed Evinity in October 2024 with no side effects. DEXA results showed 12% increase in spine and less in hips, but moved me to osteopenia. I will begin once weekly Atelvia, delayed-release risendronate, next week. It is taken immediately after breakfast.
