Burning tingling sensation all over face

Posted by mattey741 @mattey741, Oct 29 4:15pm

Not sure if this is the proper place for this. I suffer from a burning tingling face yet my face if anything feels cold to touch. My legs feel damp under my trousers. None of this is life threatening I'm sure but so difficult to deal with. Would love to hear from anyone with similar symptoms or answers. Thank you.

Hello @mattey741, While you wait for others to respond I thought I would do a search of Connect for others who have mentioned "burning face". Here's a list of other discussions and comments from members that might be helpful to scan through - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/discussions/?search=burning%20face.

You mentioned when you have the burning and tingling in your face that it also feels cold to touch. Have you discussed the symptoms with your doctor or care team?

I have tingling, and cold feeling. Not so much as far as a burning feeling but the tingly and cold most definitely. It's quite concerning

@mattey741 is it on one side? I have this on my left side only. I am told it could be from my neck, or from my brain (facial nerve). Trigeminal neuralgia is usually one sided I believe but not sure. So sorry you are suffering.

I have all kinds of sensations all over at different times. "Paresthesias" in arms at times, chills even in a hot shower etc. I am used to them at this point but the facial numbnesss and pain lately has led me to a doctor and some testing for an acoustic neuroma, a benign tumor. Just to be sure. Again, that tends to be one-sided.

Do you have any food sensitivities? My arm sensations got a lot better when I gave up dairy and wheat. I was surprised. I had autoimmune testing which was positive for lupus and scleroderma but so far not damaging. You might want some blood tests and imaging- at least that is what I end up with.

Massage and cranial sacral work can help. I see a neuro and an integrative medicine doctor and the latter suggests supplements to deal with inflammation of nerves. Hope you get some relief!

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I have had this condition for some years. 2023 it was discovered that I had a pituitary tumor and it was removed Dec/23. It was thought that it was probably the problem at the time , however early part of this year all the burning and tingling returned. Thank you again for your response. Matt.

Thank you for your response. Yes it is concerning. Across my face feels tight and hot yet when I touch it with my hand it feels either normal or cool. The other symptom is if I go outside on a cold windy day the wind feels really cold on my face yet my face feels hot again as soon as I come indoors. Thank you again for your response.

I have the tingling in my face. Not so much burning, but tingles and itching. My neurologist said it was not
due to the ideopathy peripheral neuropathy, but cause has not been identified. Tingles everywhere around nose, eyes, cheeks, lips.

Hi- I am interested in what supplements your integrative doctor recommended. Also did your integrative doctor suggest NAD injections? Thank you for your help.

Everything my integrative medicine doctor wants me to do is very expensive. Yes he wanted to test NAD levels ($250) and then do supplementation.

curcumin
alpha lipoic acid
PEA/luteolin
acetyl l carnitine
B vitamins
CBD/CBD-A
magnesium
glutathione- liposomal oral and IV's (IV's are $90 each)

Thank you for this information. Yes I have been going to an integrative NP and she is very expensive also. I would not mind trying some alternative therapies if there were more clinical studies with people that showed the benefits. Hope you have some positive results.

CBD is actually helping sleep. Just gummies at a natural food store.

Strengthening my immune system is not beneficial because I have two autoimmune diseases and that only strengthens the attack by my immune system on my body. Anti-inflammatories are good though. There are studies. Just google! Mainstream rehab doctor recommended curcumin.
