What shoes and/or insoles work for you? How about OOFOS?

I believe I have Plantar Fasciitis on top of the PN. Have tried SO many different shoes. Skechers (good cushioning, poor arch support), Brooks (for my narrow feet, but arch support not great) OrthoFeet, and several others. Also Upstep custom arch supports. (They have a 180 day guarantee -- I ended up using it because they just couldn't get it right for me.) The closest I have come to something that is bearable are Saucony Guide 17 shoes. I can tolerate these, but they still aren't quite there. Now, I'm seeing an ad for OOFOS in my FB feed, and wonder about them. Cushioning is what I need, along with support for the sides of my feet.

Hey all! If I can chime in here regarding footwear and such. On of the
more 'fun' challenges Peripheral Neuropathy has been 'drop foot' on both my
left and right feet. I was able to be fitted with foot/ ankle braces.
Without these I found I could trip over the painted line in a parking
lot. Another thing I found that helped with my gait were a brand of shoes
called "HeyDudes". These shoes are extraordinarily light, and by wearing
them I could walk much longer distances... I've even started walking the
dog again! I know of a couple of sources for them if you need help with
this. Peace and Love, all! -Don

Barefoot Shoes are a game-changer! It’s been 2 weeks now & I am walking longer distances with less discomfort than anytime in several years. I have tried every potion, cream & supplement plus chiropractors, acupuncture, electric stimulation, Tens And even the cure everything gummies from Shark Tank. I’ve tried Hoka’s, Sketchers & Orthotics and nothing has given me relief like Barefoot Shoes.
Go to Amazon to see your choices & research them on Google.
They range from about $40 to $150. Some are very thin & considered water shoes which I tried but then went a little thicker & found my comfort zone. Plus I actually can feel the pedals while driving which I couldn’t do with my Hoka’s.
These Barefoot Shoes help to strengthen your calves & ankles giving you better balance, as well.
If you don’t try them, you’ll never know.

Unfortunately, I can't go barefoot. It is like walking on rocks for me.

U got it wrong - I can’t go barefoot either that’s what’s great about these shoes. They make you use your feet. They have soles & help you feel your feet & the ground & strengthen your calves & ankles. If you don’t try them, you’ll never know & they’re available on Amazon so if you don’t like them you can return them. Plus mine cost only $40.00 which is a lot cheaper than the snake oil’s & supplements that are out there. They are a game changer for me & I’ve had neuropathy for 15 years & this is the first time I’m getting real relief.

Do you also have plantar fasciitis as well as metatarsal pad atrophy?

REPLY

Nope - I’d still try them.

Hello I have progressive axonal peripheral neuropathy and I have found Oofos shoes and jandals a godsend. At one stage I could barely walk due to the pain, so I am an Oofos fan. Other people I have recommended them to for neuropathy and plantar fasciitis have also benefited hugely from them 🙂 Thumbs up from me

It really depends, doesn't it? On each individuals unique set of circumstances. My fam/friends also love them, BUT my podiatrist AND my ortho surgeon said NOT to use these as it would further complicate my conditions. There's that....
