Additional tests prediabetic

You're lucky if you got a GTT. Many doctors will not bother because it takes so much time. I guess it's too much of a hassle. The reason it can be good is because this test (by my understanding) can show poor glucose control well in advance of an HBA1C test. This means you can get it under control that much sooner and avoid the damage diabetes can cause.

I asked for and got a GTT because I had a high CAC score that seemed inexplicable based on my lifestyle. The GTT showed prediabetes, though my HBA1C is not in the prediabetic range. I started wearing a CGM and I've learned a lot about how to keep it under control. It still soars occassionally -- 280+ -- but I can keep it under control most of the time. Takes work though.

Your PCP should know what to do. I'd guess at the least an HBA1C test and then s/he'll go from there.

@bitsygirl I got the GTT through a research study I am participating in. What is a CAC score?
