Second Opinion

I am so grateful to this group for your thoughts and ideas about my AFF and stopping Prolia after 6 years. I want to be respectful of rules of the site, but I don't know if you can name any resources for on-line second opinions. Has anyone ever used the Cleveland Clinic Second Opinion resource? Is there any other place where educated Doctors are available to advise? With gratitude, Suzanne

Is there an endocrinology practice near you? Or a teaching hospital within an hour? I look at hospital endocrinology listings and then read reviews. Our city has a magazine with a top doc edition each year- Castle Connolly has a listing too.

Is there an endocrinology practice near you? Or a teaching hospital within an hour? I look at hospital endocrinology listings and then read reviews. Our city has a magazine with a top doc edition each year- Castle Connolly has a listing too.

If I googled endocrinologists Pittsburgh a let came up[including MD names and these:
Allegheny Endocrinology Associates 412) 359-3426
UPMC Endocrinology=UPMC Mercy I would try this!!
Pittsburgh Endocrinology
Anything at Carnegie Mellon?

I guess you have to check if they specialize is osteoporosis and also check ratings. Each hospital or private endo dept. should have names to check. It's difficult but not impossible!

Oops! I guess we're talking about Pittsburg, Ohio, in which case I would try to find doctors in Dayton, which is around 30 miles away.

I made a mistake: Pittsburgh PA. I've tried the local resources and don't find Doc's who are a knowledgeable regarding this complicated process of getting of Prolia.

I would try the posted links to get to a doctor who is knowledgeable about treating osteoporosis. I don't think an online second opinion is going to be practical for something like this. Any doctor is going to want to see your lab results and your DEXA scan.

If you find a knowledgeable doctor, please share that info with me. My experience with the AHN Fragility and Fracture clinic left me with the impression that Amgen's sale spiel was being regurgitated. Will be seeing an Endo in Feb whom I hope is more current than the last one I tried.

@sbax75 your situation is complex and really out of the scope of an online forum, as I wrote before, though we have all given our two cents within that scope.

One other option is to consult with Keith McCormick at Osteonaturals. You can do it by phone. He cannot prescribe but he could give a professional opinion. If you call, tell the woman who answers what your situation is and that you cannot go too long without something to follow Prolia.

Or...call an endocrinology office at UPNC or Allegheny and ask for an MD who has done a lot of osteporosis.
