Hello @dig49 and welcome to Mayo Connect. As you probably know, Mayo Connect is comprised of patients, like yourself, who share our experiences with each other. We cannot offer medical advice, nor can we advise about treatment outcomes. Everyone with cancer has different outcomes depending on their own personal situation.

How long ago were you diagnosed with colorectal cancer in the liver? Have you had any surgeries prior to this diagnosis?

I'm sorry to hear your news. It sounds as if you have made the right decision in seeking a second opinion and I hope your treatment goes well.

I am seeking a second opinion at Mayo Clinic. Dx with colon cancer, currently in surveillance, but the last few scans have shown suspicious things. No one seems concerned. Spoke with Mayo and I am hoping the accept me for a second opinion. I’m afraid they won’t, because I am 4 hours away from Mayo. Anyone have experience being accepted by Mayo?

Yes! I know several folks living with stage 4 colon cancer. If you have Facebook, find colontown.

They have been a huge support for me.

I'm aged 79 and was diagnosed with secondary liver cancer in July after 3 scans. This followed a colon cancer op in November 2022 and 3 months chemo, after which I made a rapid recovery (and achieved over 2,000 miles on my e-bike!). An operation on 16 August removed 3 small tumours and 2 suspicious spots which turned out to be non-cancerous. Since then I've been in recovery mode and gradually increasing the miles walked each week, currently around 15-20, but not yet back on the bike. I'm waiting to hear the results of a scan if chemo is required but at an initial meeting with my oncologist he thought this may be unnecessary.
Despite secondary liver cancer being rated stage 4 it does seem possible to live a near normal life for several years provided it has not progressed too far. If it weren't for the scans I had in the summer, when I felt 100% fit, things could well be different by now, so thank God for scans. I remain positive but time will tell. Best of luck with your diagnosis and any treatment that may be necessary.

@beth123, have you already been treated for colon cancer and now you're concerned that it may have returned? Have you heard back from Mayo Clinic in the meantime?

Yes. I was treated in 2021. I have had some things pop up on my Ct scans that are concerning. I want another opinion.
