Could numbness, from L-5 impingement localize to feet?

Does anyone know whether an L-5 nerve impingement. Can cause numbness, pressure and weakness. Localized to the feet without radiating down the entire leg?

The surgeon didn't want to order the after surgery imaging. Perhaps he didn't appreciate anyone suggesting that the surgery was at fault. And it probably wasn't. Sometimes, especially with weaker bone, the screws migrate.
The original surgeon wasn't involved with the revision.
I do wonder why it is difficult to get imaging ordered with some physicians.

Unfortunately, any of your considerations could be possible... Was it a knee replacement, my understanding is the perineal nerve comes off the sciatic nerve around mid knee. Your friend could request a CT scan. There less expensive than MRI and are great for imaging with hardware...

Hi thank You for your reply.. Post plantar fasciotomy I had relief from the heel pain. Fast forward to today the numbness n tingling is going down to right lower leg and right foot. Some pain on top of left foot and medial right side of left foot. Along with debilitating lumbar pain. I saw a surgeon at Mayo .. looks like I’m having aL4L5 fusion MI TLIF in November, the spine surgeon feels strong that I may see majority of relief from lumbar pain ( where I can’t stand for 7 min minutes) n the foot issues.
This is going try be a long process I’ll take one day at a time. The surgeons can not guarantee back pain relief.

Hi Joy, did your MRI report or surgeon mention anything about your L5 S1 joint condition?

REPLY

Did you by any chance have MIS TLIF surgery to reduce the burning in your feet?

Please answer after your surgery recovery to see if it was helping. I’m one of the many with burning swollen feet, especially evening and wakes me when sleeping. Never get a good night’s sleep. I hope it helps you. Please let us know. Thank you.
