Leakage after Radical Prostatectomy
Surgery was 9/17 - 10 days later catheter was removed - had single port surgery - issue is severe leakage anytime walking. Started kegels a month before surgery - restarted after catheter removed- seems like no improvement - dry overnight - getting up 2 times per go to bathroom - has anyone experienced heavy leakage when walking? Any suggestions or am i expecting too much too soon? Also, does heavy leakage gradually improve?

Peter , how long has it been since surgery? This usually comes along , but you have to work at it . Do all sorts of exercise . Hiking to start ! How old are you ? James from Vancouver Island.
Square - how old are you . Are you talking you had surgery Sept 17 of this year ? Its quite the surgery and it takes time to heal and to learn how to hold your urine a 'different way' . You WILL do it , just takes time if your surgery was this September . Surgery go OK? PSA check yet ? Let me know . James on Vancouver Island .
Thank you - just ordered the book!
I am 68 - surgery was 9/17/24. Surgery went well - no issues - PSA test scheduled to get 10/30/24 - active and in good shape - no other health issues - starting to understand that this will take time -
I just turned 60. Surgery was one month ago. I go back to work in a week, so anxious about how I'll get on, because I do walk between sites quite a bit.
Slow progress, but I'm trying to go from pants & a pad, to just pants, to just pad.
I managed to sleep last night in just the pants with no pad. So that's a small victory.
I might do the first day at work with pants & pads and hope that it doesn't look too bulky in my work trousers - otherwise people will think I'm pleased to see them.
Kegels are the bane of my life at the moment. Wish I could do them.
I'd like to get this:

but I don't have 1000 bucks lying around.
Don’t sweat the kegels! The easiest way to do them Correctly is simply to stop the flow of urine for 5-10 seconds when you have to urinate. Do this a few times every time you pee.
My surgeon’s team told me to ‘make believe you are in a crowded elevator and don’t want to fart’…..which is incorrect! That is a different muscle altogether.
Besides, why wouldn’t you fart in a crowded elevator? As long as it’s in ‘silent mode’ who’s gonna know who did it?😂
Based on what I've read, what I see in groups like this, and my own experience, I think that, even with religious bladder training and kegel's, the middle of the bell-shaped curve for return of acceptable continence is about 10-14 weeks post surgery. Keep doing what you have been, and expect slow improvement over the next two months.
That's good to know. Thanks. It's probably slowly getting better, but just doesn't feel like it. It's only been 4 weeks. Getting there,
