IVIG

Has anyone sweat like crazy on week four after IVIG therapy? It stinks like ammonia. I am having to wash my sheets every other day. The doctor told me it’s the break down of protein in the IVIG causing the ammonia smell. Does anyone know how long it last? I have not sweat since 2002 so it was really freaking me out to be sweating so bad. This isa crazy side effect. Just walking a short distance I start sweating and my hair and top are drenched. I don’t think I like this side effect.
It helped my balance and dizziness along with dragging my leg. Then bam last Saturday in the kitchen and it all came back at once. The nerve pain came back with it.

That problem with sweating does not happen to me. My body's reaction after IVIG is inconsistent and subtle. I could never state anything definite like you've done. I have a mild headache some of the time. I notice no improvement immediately, However I am improving in some aspects on a very slow and not steady trend line. Those things being strength, footdrop, balance, endurance, I have a ways to go in each of those for sure. I do rehab exercises religiously and push myself a little at least a couple times per week. There is a fine line on that of how much is too much.
Do you drink the large amount of water that is suggested the day before, the days of and the day after IVIG? That might help. When was the last time you had a Chemistry Panel? I would have one if you haven't had one since this started to happen.
Best regards.

I drank over 100 ounces of water and with it just starting four weeks after my infusion is weird. My hair gets drenched and so does my top. Just put on clean sheets slept with only a sheet. They stink like ammonia. My headache last 8 days immediately on day three. I had 5 days of infusions. This is crazy to come out of no where. All I drink is water nothing else. My jug I use is for 60 ounces and I drink two a day. So water isn’t the problem. I avoid caffeine because it makes me hurt worse.

Good luck to you in seeking an answer to this problem. It must be extremely difficult!
Are your blood chemistry results normal?

I am going to try and get some labs done Monday. This is literally driving me crazy and the smell is awful. It is keeping me awake. I only had on a sheet and sweating. I ended up not being able to sleep at all.
