To @peeteer22 and @frouke and others:
I can tell you about my similar experience with Xanax. I took a low dose (generally half of a .25 mg) for about 3 years mainly at night although there were many times I needed it during the day but held off/powered through the anxiety because I was afraid of dependence. About 2-3 years into taking it my anxiety and depression worsened (even started having occasional suicidal thoughts-so terrifying) and I finally realized I was having withdrawal symptoms (the next morning after taking it at night) and I stopped it cold turkey. A year later my anxiety and depression are almost nonexistent and I am finally starting to sleep better although I rarely ever get 7 or 8 hours sleep. Please consider going off the benzodiazepine and getting a prescription for something else if you need it such as Trazodone or Amitriptyline (spellling?). I am very sensitive to all drugs and never found anything I could tolerate so I healed with Ashwagandha, Gaba Calm and other natural supplements. Benzodiazepines are scary drugs. There is a reason that most doctors will not prescribe them.

Thank you, 1 old soul.
This is helpful to know.
I will be weaned off lorazepam within the next 2 months.
My mom passed in January and the 2.5 years I had to fly twice a month out of state to check on her.
I developed all kinds if symptoms, gastritis was severe.
Then my BC was found in gut lining.
Im just about to finish her estate and when its closed, I will be dropping the lorazepam.
I will watch out for the withdrawals and chart my moods.
I appreciate the heads up! Glad youre better!
Best.
EB

I have been plagued by generalized anxiety disorder, and panic disorder most of my life. I’m not sure how I would’ve coped with many hundreds of situations without a benzodiazepine in hand. Been taking a very low dose of Klonopin most of my adult life without any issues at all, except major relief of anxiety and situations I needed to get through. I have been slowly tapering down and feel confident that I could get off if I wanted to, I think it’s a safe medication as long as you understand its limitations and issues with discontinuing.
