Treatment for neuropathy
I am constantly looking for anything that will help me with the pain from neuropathy.
I also keep reading about Mayo treating patients for neuropathy. LWhen all of my information was sent to Mayo by my Primary Dr here, I was declined because Mayo stated they would do those same tests and prescribe the same Pregabalin & meds I am currently taking which hardly help at all. What else do they offer that so many apply to go there that helps with the pain??

@bettyg81pain, Sorry to hear you haven't found anything to provide relief for your neuropathy pain. I was diagnosed at Rochester Mayo Clinic with idiopathic small fiber peripheral neuropathy after 20 years of letting it keep progressing without knowing for sure it was neuropathy. Sadly after I was diagnosed the neurologist told me the same thing that all of my PCPs did over the years - there is no treatment for the numbness and drugs only help provide relief for the pain from neuropathy. That's what brought me to Connect back in 2016. If you don't have a diagnosis or don't feel like the diagnosis is correct that would be a good reason to seek help at Mayo or other major hospitals or teaching hospitals. I don't have any medical background but think each of us has to be our own advocate and learn as much as we can about our condition and the treatments that are available. You might want to look at the comments on Connect from other members who have posted about "alternative treatments for neuropathy" - https://connect.mayoclinic.org/search/comments/?search=alternative%20treatments%20for%20neuropathy%20.
I just give up finding anything. Do some stretches and walk, now my knees are really bothering me too. There is just too much. I wish there were 1 pill cure all.
I think you said it all, what you are taking is all anyone is doing, trying alternative solutions is something we will always try, Reading a website like might provide some type of relief for someone. Never give up!
I am posed to try Soft Wave therapy on my feet. Not insurance covered but looks quite promising, has anyone tried it?
I have been given just a sample of it, but could not continue. I could not afford it. I have heard some good things about it. Hope it works for you. Please let me know.
Okay!! I know, he wants to see me a package and I have never liked those for anything!!!
It may be awhile before I do it, I have other medical issues that are top of the list right now.
No
I experienced pain relief when I had accupuncture treatments - I did them regularly for about 6 months. It didn't help with the numbness (and the acupuncturist said it wouldn't likely help with numbness when I started treatment), but I no longer have pain - just some sensitivity (and I did have wake me up at night pain in the beginning). I also wear barefoot shoes 100% of my waking time - indoors and out. The numbness has improved a bit from that over the course of 6 months.
You are so right about advocating for ourselves!
