I had a kidney removed this past January because of a 4cm growth that was found. Pathology report after surgery showed that it was non-cancerous, however, I am minus one kidney. My remaining kidney has a cyst. My remaining kidney is working at 35%. Stage 3b CKD. Fortunately I feel good, I exercise, eat healthfully and pray. It is interesting to note that each of us could be told something different about our “conditions”, however, we all try to do our best with the information we have. Blessings.

Appreciate you sharing. It has been helpful hearing other people's experiences. I'm sorry that you had to find out that the growth was non-cancerous in the way that you find out, but the blessing there is it wasn't cancer. It is my understanding that your kidneys do decline in function capacity as we age. Possibly some online research and another visit with your doctor will help you manage this. Dr Google can help you understand things from a general perspective but it is not a replacement for your doctor who knows you and your other issues that need to be considered. If you do discuss what you have read with your doctor, please preference comments with something like, Help me understand . . . or I know Dr Google is not the end all, be all, however he told me . . .
You may want to know your care plan so you can be a full participant as well as possible options when and if the decline increases. Ask if you want to know these things.
