Reclast side effects
Does anyone have a solution to combat Reclast side effects. I had the infusion a year and a half ago and the side effects started shortly after I had the infusion. I still have weak legs, swelling in feet, pain in bones, dizziness (serious dizziness), cold sweats, tired all the time and nervous twitching in bones. Any suggestions?

@kell4042 it is hard when access is so limited. But you now have at least a year to look into better alternatives. The risk with osteoporosis is NONtraumatic injuries by the way.
Some of us consult with Keith McCormick, a chiropractor who wrote a very useful book entitled "Great Bones." He charges $350 I believe for initial consult in person or by phone. His book is available online and has a lot of information.
I have had two reduced doses of Reclast and am due for my third in December. I cannot be sure that what I am experiencing is due to Reclast but I get it.
I just spent the past couple of days contacting my clients in Florida who were affected by the hurricanes. It was probably good for me to not read these posts for a few days. When I started back on them I got SO angry. Yes, of course, the side effects that all of you are feeling are from the Reclast infusion. What else could it be? One day you are feeling pretty good, you have the infusion, and the next day (the very next day in my case) all hell breaks loose. And, as in my case, you probably asked several doctors about those side effects and they all denied that they were from the Reclast. They are LYING to us. They are trying to protect the drug company or maybe the doctor who administered the infusion. But they are not trying to protect us or anyone who is on the sidelines trying to decide if they should get the infusion. And it's not a pill or a shot. Oh no! It's an infusion! How invasive is that!! Again, in my case, none of the doctors even suggested I come in for an exam to try to figure out what the problem is. I finally realized that they didn't do that because they KNEW it was the Reclast. One of the doctors actually said, "Anyway, it's too late. It's already in you. We can't take it out." And the sad thing is that there are many, many bone drugs out there. You don't have to take Reclast. Let me repeat that...you don't have to take Reclast.
@dingus sorry but many of us do have to take Reclast or we lose all the gains we got from the other drugs. I have terrible GERD and cannot do Fosamax. The other option is fracture, which I have done 7 times.
I am having side effects and am feeling between a rock and a hard place. Not sure if you can address each side effect separately with the appropriate doctor. The endos really can't undo it but maybe other doctors can treat symptoms/side effects.
My doctor is absolutely concerned with my well-being and not protecting himself or anyone else. However, in my experience, doctors aren't well-versed in side effects. In fact, they just go on google when asked. Pharmacists know more.
I have already heard the line "I haven't heard that from anyone else." Well, I am telling my doctor about my side effects so he cannot say that to someone else!
My doc is pushing Reclast. I have expressed my fear for the orals now the Reclast. She is dismissing as incorrect ALL of my concerns. I might be opening a can of worms, but has anyone done the FRAX test? Go online and check it out. I did it and have only 0.1% chance of having a hip fracture in the next 10 years. I am 70. I have fallen/slipped on ice twice and a large pine cone once in the last 3 years and no break or crack. She said I was lucky. Maybe so, but I just want to try other ways to increase my bone density. She doesn't address ANY other ways to help, saying they won't help. Anyone?
Windyshores So sorry to hear about your GERD. But with everything I've read on these posts, it just seems like Reclast is being pushed hard by Big Pharma and in turn by doctors. With all the pharmaceutical companies in the world, and more and more Baby Boomers entering the golden age of bad bones, surely they can come up with a drug that doesn't have all these horrible side effects.
I have done Tymlos, Forteo, Evenity (12 months), and one Reclast infusion. The Tymlos was only five months- five months on Forteo also. The short courses of those drugs was a cost issue.
After the Forteo and Tymlos, I had bone improvement. After the Evenity, also significant improvements.
I haven’t had side effects from any of these drugs.
I realize that I may be having side effects without obvious symptoms.
But, I had to do something and as I, too, have GERD, it couldn’t be oral meds.
The GERD is the worst - symptom wise - thing I’ve ever had. Night before last, I had to talk myself down when I wanted to go to ER.
Felt like a heart attack. Nope. GERD.
Thanks for the comments, Jonijean, and the info regarding the FRAX test. I will check it out. Interesting comments about your falls. About a year ago I tripped over a door threshold and went splat, spread eagle on a tile floor. I didn't break anything either. Had a little pain in my wrist from trying to break my fall, but that was it. Nothing broken.
Please be careful with GERD. My grandfather thought he had heartburn and died from a heart attack. My granddaughter's father in law thought he had heartburn...nope. His son talked him into calling 911. It was a heart attack.
Thanks for the info about your experiences with the drugs. My main concern was how much ibuprofen I take. I haven't taken over the 600MG the insert stresses and my spine doc, who has never said anything about my osteoporosis, said I can double that and take it forever. My doc pushing the reclast said basically the same thing. That's not the info that I am getting from other sources, so I don't know. I've never had GERD issues and asked for the pills and she said if I'm worried about NSAIDS, that the pills are the same as reclast. My argument is that at least I can stop the pills You can't stop a once a year infusion. I'm leaning towards doing nothing as far as the drugs go and upping my strength exercises.
Same. Had a little pain in my wrist and I had actually torn a ligament almost in half. Took a steroid injection and it's been fine since. Let me know about your FRAX test.
The bone drugs do different things, though. You have to take *something* to prevent bone loss after using the other meds. There aren't many choices for that.
Everyone here is between a rock and a hard place because there's no silver bullet drug for osteoporosis. You cross your fingers and hope for little or no side effects.
