Nebulizing with COVID

@kathyhg

I just tested positive for covid, after avoiding it for nearly 5 years. I have bronchiectasis and Mac.

Anyway, I quickly got very sick two days ago, on what was likely the first day of the illness and I got paxlovid the same day, although late in the day and I was only able to take the evening dose.

I started nebulizing 3 times a day yesterday and my cough is better today than it was yesterday. Congested sinuses and a very very sore throat are primary symptoms today and I’m taking Tylenol for that. I also started doing nasal rinses this morning and will try to do those at least twice a day.

I’m wondering if I’m doing everything I can for this and if anyone has suggestions and/or comments about what to watch out for in the next few days/week. I just read the chance of rebound is higher for people who have used paxlovid and have an underlying medical condition (which I think would include bronchiectasis and Mac) and wonder if anyone has experienced that?

Thanks for your comments,

I, too, got COVID this summer after successfully avoiding it. I have MAC and BE as well. I had taken every booster offered, but I let my guard down at a crowded event we’d taken our granddaughter to. I did not have any appetite, and I had significant fatigue. I took Paxlovid starting on the third day. My pulmonologist warned about rebound, and sure enough, after testing negative for 5 days, I came down with rebound on the 6th day. It was extremely mild. Best wishes.
