Depends pants & pads - a practical (or stupid?) question..
I'm going back to work in a month.
What exactly should I be doing with the used pads/pants at work?
Put them in the waste basket with the paper towels? (I'm assuming not because of the smell(?)
Put them in a plastic bag & take them home for disposal?
What's the usual protocol?
Catheter's being removed in a couple of days (I hope) so just planning ahead.
Plus it's another sleepless night, so midnight thoughts.....

I've been wearing full Depends for a urinary issue for several years. I make sure I use a location with a trash can if I need a change, or one that is nearby. Just pitch them, as discreetly as you want to be. As others have noted, they are NOT "flushable ". No big deal, after all it's trash. I almost always carry a spare buried in a pocket or somewhere else. Keep it simple. There are bigger things to worry about.
What do you do with baby diapers? No big deal. Toss them in the trash. Been doing it for years like most of us do. Good luck.
You may want to put it in a plastic bag before throwing it out. I used the produce vegetable bags. I just throw them out at home but they can start to smell at work and others may notice.
I was attempting (badly) to do pelvic floor exercises with the physio yesterday & she brought up the issue of pad/pant disposal.
She suggested that I ask work if they can install one of those pad disposal boxes that they have in the ladies, into one of the gents toilets for me.
Sort of a good idea, but such a request would come out weird & make me sound like that tampons-in-boys'-toilets guy that going for Vice President up there.
Not sure I've got the guts to ask for a pad disposal box.
But I think the disabled toilets have them anyway. Hopefully.
I'll find out when i get back to work in a couple of weeks. Not looking forward to it.
As someone posted above, you have bigger things to deal with. Why bring unwanted attention to your self asking for a box in the men's room. You can wrap in paper, throw in trash and be done with it. Rest rooms aren't known for their pleasant smells, they have exhaust fans for a reason. Let this one go and move on to dealing with other challenges they we all have on our journeys. I wish you the best and I do understand all the things we worry about when we get back to work, it's human nature. Best to all.
I have also found that if you take the depends (I use the BJ's version) and roll them up from the crotch (bottom) to the top, the top elastic stuff can be used to wrap it up in a little ball. So you toss that little ball into the trash and it is all self-contained. 🙂
