Covid and Flu jabs all done

@nancy53

I am really hesitant to get the flu and Covid vaxs (not together). A year ago I had both and 3 weeks later developed PMR.

There is supposedly no correlation, but I'm afraid I'll have a flare. Currently tapering Prednisone 0.5mg every 2 weeks - at 4mg from 20! I need to have cataract surgery so I don't want to increase meds if I have a flare.

I'm sure having the flu or Covid would be worse, and my PCP says to go ahead, but I am torn.

Any advice?

I have always had the vaccines every year. I am always doing some fitness challenge and loving it. I noticed a couple of years ago I was struggling now and then but just thought I was over doing it as normal. In the Spring of this year I was doing a massive challenge and had even reached 10th in the world and it all stopped over night or so it seemed. I struggled to continue but had to stop in the end of course. So I could say pushing myself had caused the PMR but in reality the PMR had just been waiting and looking for an excuse and it found one. Always eaten healthy. Don’t smoke, drink, eat any processed food and defo never junk food but I do have Scandinavian grandparents so that is my link. PMR would have found a way to show its self at some point. Back to pushing myself physically nearly every day because that is what I do. Fallen over twice since being diagnosed and waited for a flare up but nothing. Small flare up after getting anxious and upset so I have learnt to just roll my eyes and walk away. If you are the right candidate for PMR then it will find you.
