Anyone taken Evenity (romosozumab) for Osteoporosis?
Has anyone taken Evenity? I understand it’s only been on the market for a little over a year. I’m hoping it will help with my severe osteoporosis. Any information is helpful.

Did you try asking the hospital administration where she went? You can also try googling her name to see if it shows up somewhere new. We have had doctors leave and you can usually find them if you check around. Is there another hospital in your area you could call and check to see if she is going there. Usually they let patients know someone is leaving. Did you ask the doctor office where she was employed as a PA where she has gone? You could always say you had a personal relationship with her and just wanted to say goodbye and wish her the best! Maybe they would tell you if they thought you weren’t planning to leave. Good luck to you!!
Thank you so much for your suggestions. My doctor was PA and she was specializing in osteoporosis and fractures- just right for me. I don’t know where she went. They assigned me to a doctor that she was working for and I believe that she is a great doctor. It was very hard to get an appointment with her but my condition is so bad that after number of calls I finally got one for the next week. Let’s hope that she will be able to come up with some plan for me. The nature of my pain changed dramatically after I started Evenity. It use to be just lower back pain but now it’s all over my spine and it’s barely go away while I am laying in the bed. It’s so hard to believe that just 6 months ago I was active and happy and now I am basically spending most of my days in the bed. I am so scared and afraid that my life never going to be the same.
I too am lactose intolerant but there are many good lactose free options now- lactose free milk, cottage cheese made by lactaid and Fage makes Best Self lactose free yogurt that is delicious!
@sunny65 it is great that you managed 6 months which is apparently the time frame for most anabolic bone growth on Evenity. My side effects went away quickly and I hope yours do too. Evenity inhibits sclerostin and McCormick told me 40% of his patients have joint pain. I know yours is in the spinal area but it seems related to lowered sclerostin so it seems hopeful you will feel better when you stop!
Thank you for your reply @windyshores . Actually so far I got 4 injections. I am going for my 5th next week. My plan is to ask her to give me one shot instead of two. Not sure if she is going to agree. I want to see if this makes any difference. I finally got a new doctor. I insisted to have a DEXA test even I supposed to wait till next September, but I am having it at the end of this month. The pain is so bad that I have to take matters into my own hands. Previous doctor told me that she wouldn’t have a problem to switch me to Tymlos. What would be your advice? I been reading that some ladies on this site are having back pain while on Reclast or Tymlos. Not sure why everyone scared of Prolia. I am a little bit confused. I have a friend who had terrible side effects while on pills and Reclast. She just quit all together. Not sure if I have this choice- my DEXA last September was at -4.8 spine and I have two fractures that I know how I got them and the other two I have no idea. If I have a manageable back pain I would probably stay on Evenity all 12 months. But something has to be changed.
@sunny65 I went for my Evenity shots and just declined the second shot. We have a right to do that. I wrote the doctor afterward to tell him I had declined.
I have no idea whether Tymlos works well after Evenity. There may not be a lot of research on that.
At -4.8 I hope you can stick with treatment with an anabolic like Evenity or Tymlos. I understand you are between a rock and a hard place, like a lot of us! Is there any treatment or PT or massage or patches or brace- anything- that can help you stick with Evenity a little longer?
I tried to get the NP at the fracture clinic to agree to only injecting of the 2 syringes so the second syringe could be saved for the next month. I have not begun any treatment as I have zero confidence in this clinic for a number of reasons. Rheumatologists are swamped and getting out of osteoporosis treatments to focus on diseases more aligned with their expertise. The Endo I had seen wanted to go straight to Reclast for me.
@normahorn they aren't allowed to save the second shot for the next month. I tried that too! (The shots were $427 for me so I had hoped to also save money!)
Thank you for always giving me a valuable advice. My back pain is somehow related to my legs. My both knees are constantly numb and now in pain all the time. Everyday walks becoming very tough. I had a multiple PT’s without any success. I tried massage- it was good while on the table but after I got home- not much difference. Brace helped for a couple of weeks. I am still wearing it on my short walks. Also I am using tens unit and often 5% Lidocaine patches. They help a little bit. I am trying to do some posture exercises and always in pain after. I cut Tramadol to 1-2 pills. They don’t help. I am looking forward to seeing my new bone health specialist next week. All I know that pain becoming more and more intense since I started Evenity. I would try Tymlos next if this new doctor advice and use your protocol starting lower dose and ramping it up. Not sure what awaits around the corner but life is as tough as it could be.
@sunny65 I hear you! I hope your appointment is helpful. It seems you have tried a lot of things. I hope there is a place where you can feel comfortable- for me it is bed. I read about young people "bed rotting" so I guess I am young at heart!
