Replies to "@thomaspmccoy, welcome. May I ask whay type of cancer you have/had? How are you doing now?"
Hello Colleen,
I thought I had already replied but it doesn't look like I did. sorry.
I was diagnosed February 11th with prostate, metastatic to bone, spleen and lymph nodes. Upon asking my local St Cloud doctor back in March what my prognosis was, she said because I was so healthy(many of my doctors through this all have said I am the healthiest person they have ever seen), it gave the cancer a 'perfect breeding ground' and was spreading like wildfire and so she said she would give me at absolute most 2 years to live. I called BS and asked if she would be offended if I tried to get into the Mayo. She said no, she would even get me a reference.
Within a week I had a call from the Mayo. When I got in the Mayo, they exclaimed "Wow, we did not realize anyone could have so much cancer". Well, my recipe for survival: PxO. Positive Outlook. I have told myself from day 1 it was not my time. Thankfully, the awesome Dr Sartor got me back on track and a lot of days, I feel pretty much better than I have ever felt. I will go back into the Mayo November 18th and 19th for some tests, scans and consulatations. I like to think the test results will be very positive but there are still occasional days where I know things are all not completely back to normal, but I think that is probably unrelated things I am dealing with.
I am currently in the works of openig up a bicycle shop in my hometown of Sauk Centre. I was down in Rochester a couple weeks ago with my first bike 'restoration', a Bianchi 21 speed road bike. I was in Rochester a couple weeks ago and got a picture of it with the statue of the guys that made it possible(the Mayo brothers statue). I want to get a revision of the picture, probably next Spring, now, with Dr Sartor in the picture, too. The bike will be a little different as I am currently converting it to a blackout bike(everything will be black)and I am also converting it from a 21 speed to a 36 speed.
