@jchet

What kind of pain do you have? I go to bed, but about 6 hours later I wake up with my feet feeling like they’re on fire and very swollen, tight feeling.

The compression socks used to ease the pain, but sadly they don't help now. My pain feels as if my feet are on fire. I also take alpha lipoic acid and for a time this did ease the pain, but no longer does.

I hear you! I guess I’m lucky as I only get the fire in my feet when I go to bed. Someone suggested getting a blanket lifter which might help. I ordered it on Amazon so I can return it if it doesn’t work for me. I suppose if it lifts the blanket and sheet off my feet it might help. I’ll let you know.

Thank you. I look forward to hearing if your blanket lifter works. I am fed up with my sleep being disturbed each night by neuropathic pain.

I wear them for CVI Chronic Venous Insufficiency aka slow veins. They don't seem to help much for CVI or neuropathy. By the end of the day I can't wait to take them off.

I have to wear compression for my lymphedema and CVI and it doesn't help for neuropathy. The only time I take off my stockings is when I shower. I was reading in the past that certain vitamins and supplements will help. Do a google search for that.

Does anyone who follows neuropathy threads recall a thread around here that had a post from a couple of days ago where a man was seeking exercises that might help his wife’s neuropathy? Someone responded with several links that looked promising. I made a mental note to check them out, but didn’t save it, Now, I can’t find it! I think the person who responded was a mod or volunteer. Thank you if you know anything about this.

I have had foot neuropathy for many years in the distribution of the superficial peroneal nerve.

Compression makes my symptoms worse.

I am looking for help. I am on 800 mg of GABA four times a day and have been on Lyrica. I get some temporary relief from Frankincense and Muhr's rubbing oil, but it lasts only 5 minutes.

Once I must remind folks to use LDN - low dose naltrexone- featured here often. It Does work for pain but not numbness.

At times I wear compression stockings when I anticipate travel or standing on my feet for an extended period of time. I have a history of Deep Vein Thrombosis. The compression stocking definitely help my legs feel better and swell less. I believe I have neuropathy in my feet as they burn and are painful, sometimes at night. I think if I wear the stockings during the day, it does help decrease the neuropathy, though not consistently.
At the suggestion of my Dr.,I went into a running store and bought the type of hose that runners wear. They are easier to get on than the hose sold at medical supply stores, yet seem to provide enough support for my legs. I definitely wear these hose more often than I would the ones from medical supply stores, because I can get them on!

I forgot to mention the ones I buy and like the best are those that run from about 5 inches or so above ankle to the front of foot arch, that is, the ball of foot and toes are not covered. I can then wear them with sandals if I want around the house. I don't have much swelling in my legs and feet and I am very intent on keeping it that way. If you have significant swelling these might not work as well for you until and if you can get the swelling down.

I have had peripheral neuropathy for years. Ibuprofen has been my go to relief. Recently, my Neurologist prescribed Gabapentin. One month and I quit. Three weeks ago, I left my compression socks on and the source of pain was greatly diminished. A side benefit is the time saved in putting socks on and off. I leave them on for at least 72 hours. Next come tieless shoelaces for my shoes. I bough a new pair of bowling shoes which use them. Just a few seconds to put them on or off. My rachet belt quickens another daily operation.

What didn't you like about the Gabapentin?
