Bone health and scoliosis

I’m interested in how to manage the pain from scoliosis and how it affects other joints in the body. I cannot control the pain. I have been taking Tylenol with a boost from Aleve once in a while. It’s becoming more and more intolerable with no relief I’m told. The pain is in my lower back, hip, and knee(left side knee and hip). The pain is starting to radiate into the left groin area as well. I can only walk very short distances with rest in between I walk everyday trying not to give into it. I’m afraid I’ll end up in a wheelchair

oh that's wonderful! Hope they accept your insurance. If by chance you are in Portland Oregon, there is one DPT at OHSU that is Schroth certified and accepts insurance. She's the only one I know of that does.

DPT is Doctor of Physical Therapy. OHSU accepts Medicare but of course, you'd have to check your specific plan.

Have you tried a lift?

My scoliosis made my left leg 3/4+ inches shorter. After an orthopedic lift I was able to walk without pain.

Same. Was seeing pain management for severe knee pain and getting injections which worked only the first time. Then to osteo doc for another injection which lasted 3 weeks. Pain management told me I needed bilateral TKR but osteo doc said no. After MRI, osteo doc said may be my back. Diagnosed with scoliosis 2 years ago and had no idea the pain could be so severe in my entire right leg. Making another appt. with back doc today.

I've just discovered this thread and while it's focus seems to be pain, I'm curious if anyone has noticed spine scan readings which indicate OP at just the area of the curvature? I've had idiopathic scoliosis since childhood in the '40s and '50s when bracing was the treatment used. Thankfully I was never braced. At 78 my last spinal T-score for L1 to L4 was -1.0. My latest endocrinologist pointed out that my score is -3.6 at L2 which is where my spine makes its major turn. Has anyone observed anything similar?
