Side effects of going off of abiraterone

I was on it for 2.5 years and didn’t think I had issues when I stopped. Did you start anything new? I started a parp inhibitor right after stopping Zytiga, I had nightmares five nights in a row from what I thought was caused by the PARP inhibitor so I switched to Darolutamide. Someone else confirmed to me that the parp could have caused the nightmares that was one rare side effect..

I know people that have been on it for as long as five years and after they stopped had problems only with the prednisone withdrawals. Not reducing dosage slow enough over a long enough period of time. Those problems were that they were just sleepy/fatigued however.

No, I didn't start anything new. I did have my last Eligard injection at the same time, but those injections have not affected my sleep. I'm still at the same prednisone dose, and will start reduced dosage next week.

I'm just starting Abi this week. Curious why you went off it?

I went off the abiraterone as I finished my Mayo oncologist's prescribed course of treatment.

He said 2 1/2 years. Same Amount of time I was on it.

2-1/2 years per Mayo Clinic's protocol.

I was on it for 23 months and stopped 8 days ago. Now taking half the dose of prednisone for 2 weeks (6 more days). I have had vivid dreams and an hour awake around 2am.

Nice info. I m on 5 mg. Prednisone since day one. Along with Arbiterone. You must have been on a higher dose unless they have a 2.5 mg. Dose of prednisone.

I was on 5mg and now taking one pill every other day
