My wife has gone through 6 hip surgeries! I sensed she had Cobalt poisoning and inquired with her main surgeon about having a test done and he declined; maybe at next years follow up, I took her home and connected with her primary doctor and she ordered the test! Thank God I did; you and mine should be .03 or lower; her level was 17.7; toxic! You need to be a Strong advocate for yourself! Talk to your surgeon and if you don’t feel he or she is listening, see your primary! Not trying to scare you, just be strong in Advocating for yourself! My wife had total bilateral in 2011; revision on right in 2012 due to fracture pelvic, dropped her at rehab and took zero responsibility and doctors covered their asses to avoid a potential law suit, revision on left in 2018 due to chromium and cobalt poison, complete removal of Right implant in 2022 due to two staph infection and chromium/ Cobalt poisoning in her Right hip, after 8 weeks of antibiotics through a port to her heart they placed a new implant. Again, no scare tactic here, just be strong in advocating for yourself!

What an ordeal you two have faced together. I bet she is thankful that you are there for her. We went through the same from 2006 through 2011, ending in 3 revisions and many months of recovery from the Chromium and Cobalt poisoning. I hope her "new hips" prove as durable as mine have - 13 years and counting with only a few bouts of bursitis.
Does she have any long-lasting medical problems from the heavy metal poisoning?
