I’m not bed bound, but don’t get away from the house much, outside of taking an Uber to doctors, etc., or a ride along with my wife when I need to get out. I’m able to move around the house, up and down stairs and go outside, etc., so as long as I’m being careful not to over exert, I’m able to manage my days. For me, on a routine day, I incorporate rest breaks into my day, consisting of laying down, lights out and doing yoga or breathing exercises for about 30 minutes. I do this at a minimum (whether I think I need it or not) once mid morning and once mid afternoon. If I have something extra in my day, I take additional breaks. For instance yesterday my cousin brought us dinner and visited for a couple of hours, the mental exertion drained me a bit so when they left I went to my room, turned on the music and chilled for about 20 minutes - focusing on breath and relaxation. I was then able to come back downstairs, watch some TV, etc., before going to bed. There are days I might take an additional 2 or 3 breaks. These are short (15-20 minutes) and I don’t usually sleep, though I might doze off for a minute or two. I know there are others in much worse shape than me, so this may not be enough, but it works for me on normal days. Of course, if I overdo things and have a crash, I’m in bed most of the time till I get through it.
Thank you for your detailed description of your Pacing routine. My alternation of Activity and Rest is not currently in a routine like yours is. Now I’m going to try to implement something like your routine and see what happens.
Thank you again!
