Leg Issues Long After Radiation and ADT

Posted by miked77 @miked77, Oct 6 9:39am

Treatment for Prostate Cancer started 2 years with 45 radiation treatments and 28 months of Orgovyx. I was 77 at diagnosis. Orgovyx treatment ended 6 months ago as did the hot flashes. I am still having weakness in my legs (legs feel tired all the time) and pain in my legs when sleeping (hard to describe but just twitches and aches). Otherwise I feel good and my PSA is zero. Unfortunately my testosterone has not recovered (70) and probably will not get much higher. Any thoughts on what is going on with my legs? Thanks in advance.

With your testosterone that low fatigue is a major issue. The tiredness in your legs is a common problem when you have low testosterone. You also probably feel a less energetic than you did before you took Orgovyx. It’s all due to low testosterone.

Exercise can reduce some of those symptoms. Walking two or 3 miles a day should help as well as doing weight exercises in the gym.

With Orgovyx your PSA will usually return quicker. The rule of thumb is it takes as many months as you were on drugs like Orgovyx to recover, though with Orgovyx it’s usually quicker than the other drugs. The other problem is age people in their late 70s recover much slower than younger people, though results can vary

I had weakness in my legs (paralysis, eventually) because a bone metastatis compressed my spinal cord.

You didn't mention anything about cancer spread, but if you find your legs are suddenly weaker than they were the week before, or you have trouble balancing or start to feel numbness in your toes, get help ASAP. Go to the ER if needed. I went from using a cane for balance to being fully paraplegic in just 4 days.
