I have only ever taken pregabalin. Started with 75 mg morning and night. Increased to 75 mg in the morning and 150 mg in the evening. I have type 2 diabetes that was diagnosed maybe 7 or 8 years ago. It works 80 or 90% of the time. Some nights the pain in my feet just won't stop. I don't want to tell my Doctor because he will just increase the dosage again. I put up with the pain, once in bed and laying horizontally the pain stops and I drift off to sleep
Hello, @bettyg81pain ,
When I started taking prescription pain medication about 3 years ago, I was prescribed Gabapentin. I don't remember the dosage but after 2 days I was so depressed that when I called my doctor, I was told to immediately discontinue its use. As an alternative I was prescribed Lyrica (Pregabalin) 100 mg. 3 x day along with Tramadol 50 mg. 3x a day, which I have continued to this day. The only side effect I have experienced is some lightheadedness in the morning if I don't eat something.
It does take care of my foot pain, thankfully ~ but I still have numbing and my sense of balance has never been restored. I'm so grateful for this combination of meds. and for my pain doctor.
