I am 8 months out from TKR and 6 months out from manipulation. Manipulation took him a long time to get me to 130 degrees. I was told it is usually 39 seconds but it took him 5 minutes to get me there. I then went into cardiac arrest in recovery, so spent a couple overnights I hospital and didn’t start PT for 5 days instead of immediately.
I still am walking with cane, have shooting pain that wakes me from a deep sleep 4-5 times a night, can’t walk up/down stairs unless I 1-foot at a time, can’t get in/out of cars without help, and have issues getting out of chairs. I still do PT 3 x weekly and do my daily exercises. My bend is 100 but my extension is -12.
I see a surgeon that specializes in revision in 10 days and can’t wait! I’ve been told I develop scar tissue faster than most and they need to remove the whole implant and start over. I had ACL and meniscus tear surgery on same knee previously which is part of the issue.
If revision will help me get back walking, hiking, riding bike and playing a bit of pickleball I’ll go through all the pain again gladly!
Talk to a specialized revision surgeon about all your pain. If you are doing all the work it might not be you at all.
I couldn’t wait any longer to have surgery. I ached all the time and knee was swelled up. Different doctor did surgery, other one retired. My Exactect model was Optetrak. I don’t see on my operative report what I have in me now but I know it is not Exactect.
